Lifestyle photography...
We see it all over the place. On our favorite blogs, in tv and print ads, all across social media. It's everywhere. Well, tonight I was talking to my mom on the phone about my upcoming retreats and she asks me, "So what exactly is lifestyle photography?" Well I have to be honest here, I don't have the slightest clue of the textbook definition for lifestyle photography, but I can tell you what it is to me... It's the art of visual story telling... It's the stringing together of all the seemingly insignificant details of a scene, editing them down and then piecing it back together in a concise way that hits all the senses. And I'll tell ya what, I know I'm coming off a little cheesy here so I'll just say this... Lifestyle photography is everything we love about reality tv, only without the drama. Make sense? :)The focus of this workshop is not only to learn slr camera basics, but to discuss and hopefully make second nature, the elements behind beautiful imagery. Through light, composition, and emotion, we have the opportunity to create touching images that tell a detailed story. So whether you're a blogger, an avid traveler, or a mamma hoping to slow time a bit, this workshop will help you to look at the details around you just a bit differently, and hopefully inspire you to try your hand at capturing them.

Here's
my philosophy on that subject- this is retreat people... emphasis on
the word "treat". And I like to treat my peeps good, and feed them well.
So- no frozen lasagna this time my friends... I'll be flying out the
home chef I've brought on for past retreats and the guy is amazing.
Check out the blogpost I did on him last year- he's food genius.

If I'm going to steal you away from your families and friends for the weekend, you better believe I'm going to make it worth your while. We are going to eat, sleep, and breathe photography for two days straight. From the beautiful scenery around us, to the food we eat, to the trinkets on our bedside tables, we're going to photograph it all- because that's what lifestyle photography is all about- finding what's beautiful and unique about the seemingly mundane. We'll also be shooting two lifestyle portraiture shoots so we can have a bit of practice with moving subjects as well. :)
